Crochet Flower Brooch

Welcome the last but the best month of the spring, May, with this beautiful Crochet Flower Brooch. May derives from the Greek nymph, Maia, who was the most beautiful of the Pleiades, the seven daughters of Atlas. So get all dressed up and pretty, and pin this blooming flower honoring femininity, spring, flowers, beauty, etc.

I first developed the pattern three years ago but due to limited skills in pattern writing I left it aside. Now finally after a two month period of trial and error, testing with different yarns (even ribbons), hooks and buttons I end up with the following variations and sizes:

–          3 sizes to choose from:

  • Small flower, 7cm (2.8in)
  • Regular flower, 10cm (4in)
  • Large flower, 12cm (5in)

–          Lotus Flower where the edges of the petals are pointed

–          Rose Flower where the petal’s edges are rounded

–          Use of a button in the centre

–          Crocheted centre

All of the above are clearly explained in writing and through a photo-tutorial in the PDF pattern available at the following links:
